Female Infidelity Gene AVPR1A Test

$149.00

Is it possible that your genes make you more prone to infidelity? Discover if you carry one of the “female infidelity” variations of the vasopressin receptor gene.

  • examines five genetic variations in the AVPR1A gene.
  • Females who possess one or more of these genetic variations are more likely to engage in extrapair mating or cheating.
  • Test results will be kept confidential and will only be available to you online.
  • Do not affect the behavior of males.

Description

The “female infidelity” gene includes five variations of the AVPR1A gene, which encodes the arginine vasopressin receptor 1A responsible for binding vasopressin and transmitting the signal within the cells.

Vasopressin is a hormone that regulates water retention in the kidneys and increases blood pressure. When it is released directly into the brain, it can also affect social and sexual behavior, including infidelity.

In women with the “female infidelity” versions of AVPR1A, the transmission of the vasopressin signal is disrupted. As such, each variant is associated with an increased likelihood of extrapair mating or cheating in women. There is no evidence that these five variants influence sexual behavior in men.

Technical Info

The AVPR1A gene is located on chromosome 12 and individuals inherit two copies of this gene – one from each parent. This DNA test can be performed to determine which versions of the AVPR1A gene a person has inherited.
